Therapeutic Life Story Work is a service provided for children and young people following play therapy, as the therapeutic relationship will be established. The therapist will also have a knowledge of whether it is the right time for the child or young person to start exploring some of their history in a safe and therapeutic environment to positive benefit. Therapeutic Life Story Work is a therapeutic intervention for children and young people who have been removed from the care of their family and may have suffered placement breakdowns. Their life history may leaving the child feeling lost and with confusion feelings about belonging. This can impact hugely on their well-being and make the child very vulnerable in their present and future.
In addition, Play Refuge provides Therapeutic Life Story Work for children and young people who were unaccompanied when arriving in the UK, and have refugee status or are seeking asylum.
Therapeutic Life Story Work offers children and young people an opening to explore, question and understand their lives. Within these therapeutic sessions it gives them safe space to feel, and a voice express their emotions when making sense of their past experiences and the relation it has to their current lives.
